Andrea Jeremiah

Andrea Maria Jeremiah (born in India) is a singer who plays back actor, actress and musician. Her main work is as a performer and music composer for Tamil and Malayalam language films. Annayum Rasoolum was her Malayalam as well as Tamil debut. She made her debut in Tamil along with Pachaikili Muthucharam. Andrea Jeremiah grew up in an Anglo-Indian home in Arakkonam Tamil Nadu. Andrea's father was a Madras High Court lawyer. She has one younger sister who works in Leuven Belgium as an assistant to research. Jeremiah was born near Chennai and went to National Public School and graduated from Women's Christian College. Andrea began learning classical piano at age eight. She was a big fan of geeks and wanted to be a psychiatrist. By the age of 10, she was in a Jackson Five-style group known as Young Stars which formed the beginning of her early recording and composing music career. She also was a theatre performer in the college she attended as well as appearing in various shows staged by The Madras Players and EVAM. She served as the president of the Student Senate at Women's Christian College. Andrea began her stage career by appearing in Girish Karnad's Nagamandala. She appeared in the 2006 Leo Coffee commercial alongside Shiva. Also, she was a part of a serial which relayed in Podhigai channel. She has performed across India. She was in a small role in the finale of Kanda Naal Mudhal (2005). When she sang a tune in Gautham Vasudev Menon's film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiya He asked her to be cast the leading female character in his next film Pachaikili Muthucharam. The film was an adaptation of James Siegel's novel Derailed. It featured Andrea as Kalyani the wife of a homemaker who has an affair with her and is blackmailed. Andrea won the role of Kalyani following auditions. Simran Shobana, Tabu as well as other actors were offered the chance to audition for the role. The film was first released in 2010. In 2011 she agreed to be a minor role in Venkat Prabhu's multi-starrer Mankatha that was released on August 11, 2011. In 2013 she made her debut in Malayalam film with Rajeev Ravi's romantic film Annayum Rasoolum.
